정리)

✔️ for : 대신 ~를 해주다 (이득/혜택을 받는 대상이 개인)
✔️ instead of : 대신 ~를 하다 (이득/혜택을 받는 대상이 다수 & 상대방에게도 일에 대한 책임/영향이 있는 경우)

Ex)
(1) 이 책 나 대신에 좀 반납해줄래? (대신에 해주는 뉘앙스)
Could you return this book for me?  
(2) (팀 프로젝트의 상황) 발표자가 갑자기 아파서 제가 대신 발표를 하게 됐어요.
Our presenter suddenly got sick. So I had to give the presentation instead of her.

 

📌 instead of 의 사용

1. ~말고/~가 아니라
Ex) I want to get this steak. But can I get the salad instead of the soup?

 

2. instead of ~ing

Ex)
조금 일찍 도착해서 그냥 마냥 기다리는 대신 동네 구경 좀 했어
걔가 바쁠 것 같아서, 전화 대신 문자로 보냈어.

I arrived a little early. so instead of just waiting, I looked around the neighborhood.
I thought she would be busy, so I sent her a text instead of calling
