개념	표현	예문
For -ing (~을 위한 것)	for exercising (운동을 위한 것)	I bought this notebook for taking notes.
다른 ~	somewhere else (다른 곳)	We went somewhere else.
	something else (다른 것)	Do you have something else?
	someone else (다른 사람)	She immediately met someone else.
	some other way (다른 방법)	We need to find some other way.

✅ 상세 정리

1️⃣ For -ing (~을 위한 것)

✔ 용도를 말할 때 사용
✔ to + 동사원형이 아니라 -ing 사용해야 함
💡 "어떤 목적을 위한 것"이라는 의미가 있을 때 → for -ing
💡 "어떤 행동을 하기 위해"라는 의미일 때 → to + V 사용

🔹 Ex ) 

This button is for adjusting the volume.    ( 이 버튼은 볼륨을 조정하기 위한 거야. )
I bought this notebook for taking notes.    ( 필기하려고 이 공책을 샀어. )
This cake is not for eating, it's for decorating.    (이 케이크는 먹는 게 아니라 장식하는 거야.)
There's a small pocket in my wallet for carrying coins.    (내 지갑 안에는 동전을 넣기 위한 작은 주머니가 있어.)

 

2️⃣  다른 ~

✔ some의 특징상 부정문/의문문에서는 any 사용
🚨 another place, other place (X) → somewhere else (O)

📌  "다른"을 의미하는 표현들

다른 곳	somewhere else / some other place
다른 걸로	something else / some other model
다른 사람	someone else / some other person
다른 방법	some other way
다른 이유	some other reason
다른 때	some other time

 

🔹 Ex ) 

We went somewhere else because the restaurant was too crowded.    (우리는 식당에 사람이 너무 많아서 다른 곳으로 갔어.)
Right after she broke up with him, she immediately met someone else.    (그녀는 헤어지자마자 다른 사람을 만났어.)
I think we need to find some other way.    (우리는 다른 방법을 찾아야 할 것 같아.)
Can we do this some other time?    (이거 다른 때 하면 안 될까?)
